‘Son of God’ Producers Signed for Ben-Hur Remake

More than 50 years after actor Charlton Heston brought the classic novel “Ben-Hur” to life on the silver screen, Paramount and MGM have signed Mark Burnett and Roma Downey to produce a remake.

The couple has struck a chord among Christian consumers with their productions of “The Bible” miniseries and the subsequent “Son of God” movie.

“We are thrilled to have Mark and Roma join the production team to bring such an indelible classic story to the big screen,” MGM CEO Gary Barber said in a statement.

“Their unrivaled passion, creativity and success in the faith-based content space will be a huge asset to the film, and we look forward to working together,” he said.

Chris Stone, founder of Faith Driven Consumer, the group behind the movement that played a role in Phil Robertson’s return to “Duck Dynasty,” applauded the move.

He said the decision was a sign that Hollywood had learned its lesson from the film “Noah,” which got a chilly reception from Christian audiences.

“If Faith Driven Consumers were a core target for ‘Noah,’ Darren Aronofsky (an atheist) was the wrong choice,” he said in a statement.

“Having left untold millions on the table with that film,” he continued, “Paramount appears to have learned from its mistakes and to be taking a completely new approach with the upcoming remake of ‘Ben-Hur’ by signing producers Mark Burnett and Roma Downey.”

Ecuadorean Preacher Fined $3,000, Banned From Politics for Calling Homosexuality ‘Immoral’

An evangelical preacher in Ecuador who ran for president earlier this year has been sentenced after he was found guilty of violating the country’s electoral code by speaking against homosexual behavior.

Nelson Zavala has been fined for more than $3,000 and banned from running for office or being involved with any political party for one year because of his speech, which reportedly occurred in February.

Zavala is being penalized for comments that he made while on the campaign trial in regard to the nation’s legalization of homosexual “marriage,” which he opposed. He had allegedly stated that he believes homosexual behavior is “immoral” and that it is a “severe deviation of conduct.” Zavala had also remarked on several occasions that homosexuals were sinners.zavala_l

Following his statements, a number of homosexual groups complained to the electoral court, and Zavala was required to appear for a hearing.

In analyzing the matter, Judge Patricia Baca Mancheno ruled that Zavala’s speech violated the country’s electoral code, which “forbids candidates of publicly expressing any thoughts that discriminate or affect other people’s dignity or utilize symbols, expressions or allusions of a religious nature.” She then handed down the sentence, barring the preacher from participating in politics for an entire year.

Homosexuals in Ecuador cheered Zavala’s punishment, declaring that the sentencing was a “milestone” for their cause.

However, the former political candidate decried Mancheno’s ruling, which he said was contrary to the law of God.

“On what they judge me, they will be judged. They don’t have interference in heaven,” he said boldly. “One day God will judge everything, and be prepared to explain to God why you called evil good, and good evil.”

He plans to appeal the sentence.

zavala18Zavala’s sentence comes just weeks after the Supreme Court of Canada upheld a guilty verdict against a pro-family activist  in the nation, who had distributed flyers over a decade ago to express his concerns about a homosexual pride parade in his city, as well as homosexuality being taught in schools. As previously reported, William Whatcott was convicted of a hate crime for expressing sentiments that targeted a certain people group.

“The Bible is clear that homosexuality is an abomination,” stated one flyer that was found to be in violation, citing 1 Corinthians 6:9. “Scripture records that Sodom and Gomorrah was given over completely to homosexual perversion and as a result destroyed by God’s wrath.”

Whatcott was also convicted of hate speech for using the word “sodomites” and speaking against “two men sodomizing each other,” among other phrases.

Don’t Just Manage Your Time, Steward It: 5 Keys

palms-clockThe wise stewardship of our time is a very spiritual matter. The Lord has graciously given us a predetermined amount of time, and we are responsible to utilize it with wisdom.

As Oswald Sanders points out in his classic work Spiritual Leadership, each of us has the same amount of time each day as the president of the United States. How can we maximize the time that has been given? How can we rid ourselves of some of the wasted time?

While this list is not inerrant or exhaustive, here are five practices I have learned thus far on stewarding time.

1. Plan ahead.

Instead of rolling into your day with no plan, know the most important projects, conversations, decisions and actions that need to happen as you begin your day. Otherwise you can easily wander into the day, do some less-value-adding work, and kind of just exist.

For me, I look at each upcoming day the night before the new day begins. I make a list, sometimes mental, sometimes on paper, of the most important things that must happen the next day. Doing so helps me begin my day with a plan. Not doing so would put me in a reactive posture. I could still be busy, but I would quite possibly be busy doing the wrong things.

2. Attack the day.

There is a difference in beginning the day with an offensive posture and beginning the day with a defensive posture.

With a defensive posture, you will likely invest more time on the less important, and less time on the most important. If you don’t attack the day with a commitment to throw your best energy into the most important, the inbox or voicemail can grab your best energy. You will likely spend more time than you need to on less important items, issues, etc.

With an attack mentality, the items in the inbox and the voicemail still get your attention, but they get the appropriate attention.

3. Redeem dead times.

Having a plan for the day with an attack mentality inevitably leads to a desire to redeem dead times. Dead times are often the spaces between events that can either be squandered or utilized. Drive times and wait times are most common:

Drive times: Instead of constantly clicking “scan” on the radio button, use your drive time for learning or connecting. Zig Ziglar coined the phrase “automobile university” to describe how much learning can be accomplished while driving. Likewise, the drive time is great to knock out several phone calls.

Wait times: I will use Ben and Scott to illustrate. They are on the same flight from Atlanta to Miami.

Since the flight is roughly 90 minutes and there is probably only 40 minutes where you cannot use your laptop, Ben decides to thumb through the Sky magazine in front of him. After all, he does not want to pay $5.99 to be on the Internet for 40 minutes.

Scott, however, comes to the airport with a plan. After checking in, he begins reading the book he has been studying. Once seated, he continues reading until the passengers are cleared to use their computers. Over the next 40 minutes, he types up several emails in a Word doc so he can simply copy and paste them later. When the time comes to shut the computer down, Scott trades his computer for the book and continues reading.

A very different use of 90 minutes.

Be wise about the above. When you are on a date with your wife, don’t view the time between the appetizer and the main course as a “wait time to be redeemed.” Wait times are big chunks of time that would otherwise be squandered. When you are with people, be present. Don’t put projects above people.

4. Create space for the big projects.

I find that major projects, plans, messages, leadership lessons, etc. need large chunks of time to prepare effectively. Four hours of preparation in one chunk is massively more fruitful than eight 30-minute blocks of time.

For this reason, I keep three to four big items on my desktop and block off several big chunks of time a week. It is much more effective to use the 30-minute blocks of time for emails and quick meetings.

5. Close the day: zero out your inbox.

As the day ends, I find it very helpful to answer my emails and plan for the next day. If there is an email that will require further follow-up, I move it to a follow-up folder. It is a small move, but it gives me the sense that I am beginning the new day with a fresh perspective.

THERE ARE NO SUCH THING AS A GAY GENE

gene

“And you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.” John 8:32.

” In Him was life, and the life was the Light of men. The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not [b]comprehend it.”  John 1:4-5

Many around the world believe that Homosexuality is inherited during conception. They believe that it is a gene thing and that a gay person is inborn into one, he/she has no choice.  Even the Christian Church and many Christians has accept the fact that God has somehow allow these special people with special gene to be created, either because God made a mistake or He purposely did it for some reason. Hence we can see many Churches has accepted the LGBT and their lifestyle, even to the extend of gay marriage.

The underlining message that the church is sending is one that blame God for His imperfection in creation and since it is God’s fault, we have to right His wrong by overlooking the sins of these imperfect creations of God in the name of love.

Shame on you!  You have brought shame to the name of God.  Not only have you corrupted His church, you defiled God’s people by teaching them to do the same.  You have turned away from God and sought allegiance with the devil, professing his lies, driving people to their destruction.

The bible say “Therefore you are to be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.”  Matthew 5:48.

The truth is the Churches and Christians who support the gay community, have been deceived!  The unending disputes whether the bible is against or indifference regarding Homosexuality and same gender marriage has always been based on the widely publicized “fact” that gay is genetic. The “genetic and unchangeable” theory has been actively promoted by gay activists and the media. Is homosexuality really an inborn and normal variant of human nature?

No. There is no evidence that shows that homosexuality is simply “genetic.” And none of the research claims there is.

The research of Dean Hamer in 1993 claims that there might be a gene for homosexuality.  However, his research result was not repeatable, so as many of the later researches.  The reason why later researches or experiments do not yield the same results only mean that certain variables has been omitted.

Comments from Genes and behavior. Science 1994:
“Time and time again, scientists have claimed that particular genes or chromosomal regions are associated with behavioral traits, only to withdraw their findings when they were not replicated. “Unfortunately,” says Yale’s [Dr. Joel] Gelernter, “it’s hard to come up with many” findings linking specific genes to complex human behaviors that have been replicated. “…All were announced with great fanfare; all were greeted unskeptically in the popular press; all are now in disrepute.” ”

Even when Dea Hamer was asked by Scientific American if homosexuality was rooted solely in biology. He replied:  “Absolutely not. From twin studies, we already know that half or more of the variability in sexual orientation is not inherited. Our studies try to pinpoint the genetic factors…not negate the psychosocial factors.”

Thus, to their fellow scientists, the researchers have been honestly acknowledging the limitations of their research. However, the media doesn’t understand that message. Columnist Ann Landers, for example, tells her readers that “homosexuals are born, not made.” The media offers partial truths because the scientific reality is simply too unexciting to make the evening news; too complex for mass consumption; and furthermore, not fully and accurately understood by reporters.

Then we have the Neuroscientists claim that the brain structure of gays are different from those who are not.  However, as a scientist, one is well aware that the brain changes with use…indeed quite dramatically. Those parts responsible for an activity get larger over time, and there are specific parts of the brain that are more utilized by a certain group of people living a similar lifestyle.  For example basketball players brain will be very similar as they utilized a certain part of their brain more than other parts so one will find certain similarity in their brain structure.

We must understand that “Associated With” Does Not Mean “Caused By”.  Taking the example of basketball players, you find a small number of families of basketball players and compare them to some families of nonplayers. You have a hunch that of the innumerable genes likely to be associated with basketball playing (those for height, athleticism, and quick reflexes, for example), some will be located on the x-chromosome.

You won’t say these genes cause basketball playing because such a claim would be scientifically insupportable, but the public thinks “caused by” and “associated with” are synonymous.

After a few false starts, sure enough, you find what you are looking for: among the basketball-playing families, one particular cluster of genes is found more commonly.

What the majority of respected scientists now believe is that homosexuality is attributable to a combination of psychological, social, and biological factors.

From the American Psychological Association
“[M]any scientists share the view that sexual orientation is shaped for most people at an early age through complex interactions of biological, psychological and social factors.”{6}

From “Gay Brain” Researcher Simon LeVay
“At this point, the most widely held opinion [on causation of homosexuality] is that multiple factors play a role.”{7}

From Dennis McFadden, University of Texas neuroscientist:
“Any human behavior is going to be the result of complex intermingling of genetics and environment. It would be astonishing if it were not true for homosexuality.”{8}

From Sociologist Steven Goldberg
“I know of no one in the field who argues that homosexuality can be explained without reference to environmental factors.”{9}

As we have seen, there is no evidence that homosexuality is simply “genetic”–and none of the research itself claims there is.

So, my fellow Christians, do not be deceived.  Gay is not a mistake by God.  They are not genetically created.  If you are a Christian and a gay, you do not have any excuse to continue your lifestyle.  God can help you.  Do not believe the cheap gospel that it is okay.  It is not okay!  God is good and He will help when you draw near to Him.

To the church, do not compromise.  If you have done it ignorantly, repent and lead your church to repentance.  Let us make a stand for God and intercede for the church of God to come to repentance and be strong.  Let us pray for our nation and  government to make wise decision knowing righteousness will exalt a nation.

In Jesus Name.  Amen!
